Drawing inspiration from 90’s classics like Ridge Racer and the Initial D games, Inertial Drift is a highway racing game that uses the right analog stick to give you real precision with your drifting. You can steer as normal with the left stick, but if you need to make it around a sharper turn then you can use the right analog stick to start a controlled drift and you can do sharper drifts by momentarily taking your finger off the accelerator.

Well I at least hoped you liked seeing the Honda Civic crash. Thank you for watchin. Inertial Drift is a racing game that, as the title suggests, has a heavy emphasis on drifting. The key selling point here is a creative new take on the typical driving controls and mechanics, with players able to use both analogue sticks to control their drift at the same time. It’s easier to watch it in action than it is to read about it.

The current build of Inertial Drift, dubbed the Sunset Prologue, allows you to get behind the wheel of two very different handling cars and race around two beautiful (and challenging) tracks. The first car you’ll drive is the Class C Coda Gecko, which is quite easy to get to grips with and perfect for learning the ropes. The second car is the Class B HPE Dragon, which is not just faster, but also drifts very differently and takes real skill to master.

It’s shaping up to be a fantastic arcade racing game that really impresses with its unique gameplay and stylish visuals that infuse the world with a bit of Anime flair. The dual-stick precision drifting makes for a very different take on the racing genre but with a bit of practice you’ll be able to earn a Gold rating on the two tracks and maybe even earn a spot on the global leaderboard. Highly recommended.

Inertial Drift Xbox

It’s time to do some barrel rolls and other cool spaceship maneuvers while quoting Star Wars lines, because Star Wars Squadrons comes out later this week on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

I’m very excited for Squadrons. It’s odd how, lately at least, Star Wars games have been mostly focused on people running around with lightsabers and blasters and not on the cool spaceships that have always been a part of the franchise. Back in the day, these space combat games set in the Star Wars universe were more common and I’m happy to see they aren’t fully gone.
